• Percy Bysshe Shelley drowns after his schooner sinks in a storm off the coast of Italy. The Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith will meet a Reprise of Shelley in Europa. (MA: Managra)

• Jacob Grimm develops the Law of Consonantal Shift. (DW: State of Decay)

• The Rani, the Master, the Doctor and Peri Brown are all in England (most likely during this year). (DW: The Mark of the Rani)

• Mary Shelley, onetime companion of the Doctor (BFA: The Company of Friends), publishes her second novel, The Last Man, a science fiction novel set at the end of the 21st century.
