In 1945, World War II ended.
On 30 April, Adolf Hitler, the Führer of Nazi Germany, committed suicide in a bunker underneath Berlin. His new wife Eva Braun, who he married the day before, later to bear a child by him, escaped. (PROSE: The Shadow in the Glass)
