- 27 The 2012 Summer Olympics open in London, during a period of unseasonably cold weather in the city. Due to a mishap along the torch relay route, the Olympic Flame is lit at the opening ceremonies by the Doctor who appears on international television. Afterward, he and Rose Tyler attend a neighbourhood celebration in London. (DW: Fear Her)

- Henry van Statten acquires the supposed "last Dalek" - which he calls a "Metaltron", his only living specimen - for his collection in Utah. (DW: Dalek)
- In Utah, the "last Dalek" meets the Doctor and Rose Tyler, causes a power surge that blacks out much of the western United States, and eventually kills itself. Afterward, Adam Mitchell accepts an invitation to join the TARDIS crew. Van Statten, meanwhile, is stripped of his position and (apparently) has his memory erased. (DW: Dalek)
