On 22 November, 1963, American President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, at the hands of James Stevens, a journalist who'd come from April 1996.
Stevens travelled by means of a time ring and was the long-rumoured "man on the grassy knoll," who murdered the President to thwart the Master's plan to sabotage Earth's history and create a timeline in which UNIT and very possibly the Third Doctor never existed. (PROSE: Who Killed Kennedy)
The Ninth Doctor was in the crowd watching President Kennedy's motorcade drive by just before he was assassinated. A photograph that showed the Doctor among the spectators later found its way into Clive Finch's collection of files about the Doctor. (TV: Rose)
Amongst the other notable things that occurred on this day were:
- 1945 - James Stevens was born. Due to the time difference, he was technically born on 23 November in New Zealand.
- 1948 - Francis Cleary was born. (PROSE: Who Killed Kennedy)
- 1974 - Alec Palmer and Emma Grayling began their investigation of the ghost that haunted Caliburn House. (TV: Hide)
