On 25 October, 1854, the Doctor witnessed the Charge of the Light Brigade, which he remembered as a "magnificent folly." It may have been while witnessing this event that the Doctor sustained a wound which still bothered him in his third incarnation. (TV: The Evil of the Daleks, TV: The Sea Devils)
