26 December was a date.

Holidays and observances

26 December was the date of Boxing Day. (TV: The Runaway Bride) In 1899, it was marked in Stockbridge by a mummers play. (AUDIO: Castle of Fear) Instances of the day in the 21st century, such as the one following the attempted Racnoss invasion in 2007, were marked by many sales in shops. (TV: The Runaway Bride) The people of Sto believed that humans started boxing on this day. (PROSE: Time Traveller's Diary)

Events

In 1899, the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa watched a Boxing Day mummers play in Stockbridge. The play recalled events seven centuries earlier that the Doctor and Nyssa were soon to live through: overthrowing the Rutans who inhabited Stockbridge Castle. Upon interacting with the Doctor, the actor who played the dragon recalled the experiences of his ancestor Osbert — a Rutan clone — and fell under Rutan control. After the TARDIS crew lived through the 1199 events, they returned to 1899 when the Rutan ship exploded (AUDIO: Castle of Fear) and they woke up in Stockbridge on 4 August 2009. (AUDIO: The Eternal Summer)

In 1906, the Second Doctor, Jamie McCrimmon and Victoria Waterfield visited Middleton, Suffolk. (PROSE: The Cutty Wren)

Births and deaths

In 1931, Tom Wake's mother died. (PROSE: The Hopes and Fears of All the Years)
