Adipose Industries was a London company run by "Miss Foster" as part of her plan to breed Adipose on Earth in the 2000s.[nb 1] The company sold diet pills to reduce fat, but the pills actually created Adipose babies. They had one million customers in the Greater London area alone.

Donna Noble, while trying to find the Tenth Doctor, appeared at Adipose as a Health and Safety agent to research the diet pills. When she was reunited with him, he was pretending to be a Health and Safety agent named John Smith. (TV: Partners in Crime)

UNIT sent a task force to Adipose Headquarters for clean-up, retrieving a number of Adipose diet pills. (AUDIO: Recruits)

Following the incident, officials stated that the weight loss pills were unregulated and unfit for human use, while coroners reports deemed the tablets were fatally toxic in a handful of cases, causing victims to dissolve from the inside-out. Some on the internet suggested that the March of the Adipose may have been an Adipose Industries publicity stunt which backfired. While researching Adipose Industries for their podcast, The Blue Box Files discovered that no one from the company was ever seen again, though Shawna Thompson suggested that Adipose staff may have been "sunning it up in Panama" after being caught "selling dud pills". (AUDIO: SOS)

Footnotes[]

  1. The present day of Doctor Who's fourth series is not consistently dated, with TV: The Fires of Pompeii, TV: The Waters of Mars, and AUDIO: SOS setting the present of the 13 regular episodes in 2008 (heavily implied by TV: The Star Beast and TV: The Giggle as well), and PROSE: Beautiful Chaos setting them in about April to June 2009.
