Biology Edit

The Aggedors were large, powerful creatures, like bears with the heads of boars. They had bony heads with a single horn on their forehead. They also had powerful tusks and sharp claws. (TV: The Curse of Peladon, The Monster of Peladon) Since they lived in the caves of Peladon, they had poor eyesight and relied more on their sense of smell. (PROSE: Legacy) Aggedors had a long lifespan and a long pregnancy, with one Aggedor being pregnant for a century. (AUDIO: The Bride of Peladon)

Aggedors could be hypnotised by the use of flashing lights or music. (TV: The Curse of Peladon, PROSE: Legacy) They could also be trained in the normal way. (TV: The Curse of Peladon)

Cultural Significance Edit

The Aggedor was considered to a sacred symbol of Peladon. A symbol of nobility and power, Aggedor was the protector of the Peladonian king and the guardian of all of Peladon. His face was found on most things on the planet. The Temple to Aggedor was a sacred place and the punishment for defiling the temple was death. (PROSE: Legacy) Aggedor fur was used to trim the clothing of royalty. (TV: The Curse of Peladon)

History Edit

In early Peladonian history, king Sherak went exploring on the dark side of Mount Megeshra, but accidentally fell down a cliff. He encountered an Aggedor, and when it saved him from four other Aggedors, he named the Aggedor protector of the royal family. (PROSE: Legacy) Despite being a royal beast, the Aggedor was still hunted by the Peladonians as a rite of passage for young boys.

By the time of the Galactic Federation, the Aggedor was believed to be extinct. It had passed into legend, and its appearance was the sign of great peril. In reality, there were still Aggedors living deep in the mountains of Peladon. High Priest Hepesh was able to find one and tried to use him to scare away the ambassadors from the Galactic Federation. The Third Doctor was able to overcome its training and when Hepesh tried to command the Aggedor, it killed him. (TV: The Curse of Peladon) The Aggedor survived the event and 50 years later it helped the Doctor again, killing Eckersley but being fatally injured in the attack. (TV: The Monster of Peladon)
