Alethea Charlton appeared in two Doctor Who television stories: as Hur in An Unearthly Child and Edith in The Time Meddler.
Charlton debuted on television in 1958, after which she appeared on Z-Cars, Sergeant Cork, Softly, Softly, The Mind of Mr. J. G. Reeder, Paul Temple, Doomwatch, Out of the Unknown and Upstairs, Downstairs.
She is best known for playing Ethel Barraclough in thirty-six episodes of Sam. Her final known acting credit was in an episode of The Cedar Tree in 1976, which aired after her death.
