Amser Hotel
From TARDIS Index File, the free Doctor Who reference.
The Amser Hotel was an hotel located in Roath, Cardiff, Wales. The hotel was an upmarket reststop for wealthy businessmen from London, Manchester and from even further abroad.
During the 1860s, the hotel was run by Bilis Manger. In 1869, the Rift tore through the building with "eerie pink flames" causing people to disappear and apparitions of ghosts and demons to appear briefly. During the attack the Rift "left something behind". In attacking the hotel, the Rift also trapped Manger and forced him to do its bidding.
- Presumably using his new-found power, Bilis was able to quell the attack.
After the attack, the hotel fell into disrepair and became significantly lower class, attracting less scrupulous businessmen and prostitutes from Adamstown and Cathays. The hotel was finally demolished in 1914, shortly before the outbreak of World War I.
In 2004, construction began on The Clockhouse Hotel on the same site, exactly 135 years, to the day, after the Rift's attack. (TWM: Broken)
