Prior to this announcement, there were reports circulating that the character of Amy Pond would be an alien and that the actress would be covered in prosthetic makeup. In fact, this was simply a joke blog entry posted by the Doctor Who Information Network, based in Canada [2]
Details about Amy's character and background have yet to be revealed. Photographs published in the media during filming of the character's first episode show her wearing some form of police uniform (whether this is an actual police uniform or a costume is unknown).[1]
