Audrey Dudman was the mother of Ace and Liam McShane. She was the daughter of Frank and Kathleen Dudman and was born during the Second World War. In 1943, the ship which Frank was serving on was torpedoed and he was proclaimed missing, presumed dead.

That same year, Audrey met Ace, her future daughter. Ace, initially not knowing the young Audrey was her mother, hated her name because of its connection to her mother, but came to love her, at least partially due to her friendship with Kathleen. Ace helped Audrey and Kathleen escape from the Haemovores and sent them to live with her other grandmother. (TV: The Curse of Fenric)

On 8 May 1945, Ace visited her mother once again in London. (AUDIO: Casualties of War)

After marriage, her name became Audrey Gale. (PROSE: Ace of Hearts)

At around the age of twenty-seven, Audrey gave birth to Ace (whom she named Dorothy) on 20 August 1970, whose father was her husband Harry McShane. (PROSE: Timewyrm: Revelation) Ace would grow to hate her mother, before meeting her as a baby in 1943. (TV: The Curse of Fenric)

The Seventh Doctor met the adult Audrey when he travelled to February 1971 in order to apologise to the infant Ace for the Fenric and Gabriel Chase incidents. (PROSE: Ace of Hearts)

Ace remembered that Audrey cried for days following her mother's death in 1973. (AUDIO: Night Thoughts)

Ace was whisked away by the time storm in 1987. (TV: Dragonfire) She later met Robin Yeadon, a man who Ace had encountered in 1968, and briefly had a relationship with before she unwillingly abandoned him. They met in a nightclub, and subsequently began having a relationship. Together, they attended the wedding of Bernice Summerfield and Jason Kane in 2010, where they met Ace again. (PROSE: Happy Endings)
