Austria was a country located in Europe on Earth. For a time, Hungary and Austria were a territory called Austria-Hungary.

In 1914, the Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austrian-Hungarian throne, was assassinated. This and other events sparked World War I. At the end of the war, in 1918, Austria-Hungary separated into Austria and Hungary.

In 1938, due to Adolf Hitler acquiring the Bow of Nemesis and the Nemesis statue arriving near Earth, Hitler annexed Austria, adding it to the German Empire. (DW: Silver Nemesis)
