Apparently reptilian, the Bandrils lived on a neighboring planet to Karfel. The Bandril's relationship with the Karfelons was sometimes friendly and sometimes warlike. The Bandrils subsisted in part from grain from Karfel. (DW: Timelash)
The Bandrils attempted to invade Earth sometime prior to 1997, UNIT fought them off without the Doctor's assistance. (NA: The Dying Days)

Lance Parkin has stated that the Bandril invasion reference was a joke, based on the Bandrils being "rubbish" monsters, that "some alien invasions were beneath the Doctor’s dignity to deal with". [1]
