A Bengal tiger was an endangered subspecies of tiger on the planet Earth, many of which were raised in captivity inside zoos to help replenish their numbers.
One Bengal tiger once escaped from Torlannau Zoological Park, mauling his keeper, Malcolm Berkely, on the way out. It briefly threatened Ianto Jones and Jack Harkness, before being itself attacked by a dragon-like creature called a Brakkanee which had mysteriously materialised in the zoo. (PROSE: Pack Animals)
