Benny's Story was a 2009 Big Finish Productions full-cast audio short story, featuring the Eighth Doctor and Professor Bernice Summerfield.

It was notable for being the first performed pairing of the two characters. They had already appeared together in the novel The Dying Days, also by writer Lance Parkin.

Publisher's summary Edit

Deep in the mines of Epsilon Minima, Professor Bernice Summerfield is up to her neck in it — as usual. The Countess Venhella has hired her to recover a lost Time Lord artefact: a TARDIS key, it turns out. Guess whose?

References Edit

Fashion and clothing Edit

  • The Doctor's clothes are made of a special material that allows them to dry quickly.

Individuals Edit

  • Benny refers to her first meeting with the Seventh Doctor on Heaven and their subsequent encounter with the Hoothi.
  • Benny has several adventures with the Doctor after the events of this story.

Planets Edit

Species Edit

  • Hedenexians have five hands and do the best massages in the universe.

Notes Edit

  • This story was recorded on 30 and 31 October, 2008.
  • "Benny's Story" includes confirmation that the Doctor and Benny had a sexual encounter during the events of the novel PROSE: The Dying Days, putting to rest debate over what actually happened dating back to the novel's publication in 1997. Given the subsequent "canonization" of the Big Finish audio dramas (at least those featuring the Eighth Doctor) in TV: The Night of the Doctor, whether this means this event is also canon remains a matter of debate.
