Bryan Cowgill (27 May 1927-14 July 2008) was Controller of BBC One from 1973 to 1977. He was ultimately responsible for the hiring of Philip Hinchcliffe and other key personnel who together produced the most consistently highest-rated period of classic Doctor Who.
