The Chula are a race of aliens which were encountered by Jack Harkness and known to the Doctor.

Chula are a star-faring race who use spaceships for both warships and ambulances. They also have access to Nanogenes, which they use in wars to heal and reconfigure their soldiers. These Nanogenes are mainly for use on Chula soldiers, which means they have trouble healing newly encountered species. (DW: The Empty Child, / The Doctor Dances)
- Evidence would suggest that the Chula have a humanoid anatomy, since Jack Harkness was able to sit in and use the Chula Warship with no discomfort. However, there is still the possibility that he reconfigured the ship after he obtained it.
Jack Harkness used a Chula Ambulance for a con and used a Chula Warship for regular transportation. (DW: The Empty Child)

Fitted to Chula warships is a device capable of producing a tractor beam, the visual effect of which is a long blue energy tube with pulses of lighter blue energy moving along it. (DW: The Empty Child)
- The portable prison cell owned by Torchwood 3 had a similar style of beam, so either the cell was another piece of Chula technology Jack Harkness collected, or the tractor beams are actually 51st century Human technology. However, the "cell" device does not resemble any Human technology.

In common with many other species, the Chula spacecraft use mauve alert to indicate the highest level of emergency. (DW: The Empty Child)
- However, the visual display looked red, rather than mauve.
