Constellation
From TARDIS Index File, the free Doctor Who reference.
A constellation is a concept of the position of stars. At least two species had differing views of the concept of constellations.
[edit] Human Perspective
The Human constellation was a group of stars that is seen from the surface of a planet. They are usually named from the image they make when the stars are connected. Stars that make up a constellation are sometimes named after the constellation using the Greek alphabet(from Earth's point-of-view).
- Alpha Centauri is a star of the Centaurus constellation.
- Tau Ceti is a star of the Cetus constellation.
[edit] Time Lord Perspective
The Time Lord constellation was concept that was based on the temporal and physical location of stars. It was based on both stars that hadn't been created yet and stars that had died out.
This concept was later used in the Human's distant future. The Kagananaga Botizoids had a similar theory, but had a different name for it. (PDA: The Devil Goblins from Neptune)
