Courtney Pine portrayed himself in the Doctor Who TV story Silver Nemesis [+]Kevin Clarke, Doctor Who season 25 (BBC1 and TVNZ, 1988).. He is a jazz musician, and writer Kevin Clarke wrote him into the story because he was a fan of his work. Pine, being a fan of the show, agreed, and got his band to appear alongside him.
He was interviewed about his time on the show in the documentary Industrial Action.
He was the third celebrity ever to portray himself in Doctor Who, after Kenneth Kendall in The War Machines and Alex MacIntosh in Day of the Daleks. He was the first non-newsreader to do so.
