Culloden Moor

Culloden, (PROSE: A History of Humankind) or Culloden Moor, (TV: The Highlanders) was a location in the Scottish Highlands. It was the site of the final battle of the Jacobite Rebellion, (PROSE: A History of Humankind) which was fought between the Scots and the English on 16 April 1746.

Jamie McCrimmon fought on Culloden's fields. (TV: The Highlanders; PROSE: The Age of Ambition) Most of Colin McLaren's clan died on Culloden Moor. (TV: The Highlanders)

Alternative timeline[]

In an alternative timeline accidentally created by Jamie, the Glorious Revolution of 1688 was a failure and King James II retained the throne until his death. Consequently, the Jacobite Rising and the Battle of Culloden never took place. Bonnie Prince Charlie, who was James II's grandson, eventually ascended the throne as King Charles III. He was still the reigning monarch in 1788. In that year, the version of Jamie native to this timeline told a Time Lord agent of the CIA that no battle had ever been fought on Culloden Moor. (AUDIO: The Glorious Revolution) In the timeline familiar to the Doctor, Charles III was the name taken by the successor of Queen Elizabeth II in the 21st century. (PROSE: Revenge of the Judoon)
