Dieter Wallmann was a wealthy Viennese businessman.
Believing in the advancement of science, he became a patron of his friend Alfred Stahlbaum and Stahlbaum's "creation" Silver Turk. He was murdered and savagely mutilated by Gramm on orders from Johan Drossel. Mary Shelley read about his murder in a newspaper on 11 September 1873 in an article about "eyeless murders on the Ringstrasse". (AUDIO: The Silver Turk)
