Dublin was the capital and largest city of Ireland. It was located in the province of Leinster (AUDIO: The Book of Kells) on the east coast of the country. (TV: The Lie of the Land)

Early history[]

In 989, the Viking Sitric Silkbeard became King of Dublin. Following the first Leinster Revolt in 1000, however, his position was undermined by the political machinations of the Irish-born King Brian Boru of Munster. In 1014, the Battle of Clontarf was fought in Clontarf, Dublin. (AUDIO: The Book of Kells)

In 1769, the future Duke of Wellington was born in Dublin to an influential, if hard-up, aristocratic Anglo-Irish family. His name was Wesley – the Honourable Arthur Wesley, to be precise. Later the family name reverted to its original form, Wellesley. (PROSE: World Game)

On 18 December 1953, the Sky Gypsy, piloted by Diane Holmes and carrying the passengers Emma-Louise Cowell and John Ellis, departed Cardiff for Dublin but never arrived. It flew into the Rift, reappearing more than 50 years later. (TV: Out of Time)

21st century[]

In 2010, Jo Jones and her grandson Santiago Jones heard of the Eleventh Doctor's death and wanted to go to his funeral. They used a cargo plane to get across the Atlantic to Dublin. From there they took ferry to Wales. (PROSE: Death of the Doctor)

In 2011, Night Dragon Haulage regularly shipped goods to Dublin. (TV: The Curse of Clyde Langer)

Although only partially written, "lin" was one of the many locations that could be seen on the map that Nardole showed Bill. (TV: The Lie of the Land)

In 2045, the We Create Futures convention was held in the city. Inventor Adeyemi Lawal attended the conference, to showcase her latest creation, a machine that could create tangible projections of people's memories. (PROSE: Inflicting Christmas)
