Edward Fyne was a British soldier serving in India.

When the town he was stationed in was threatened by the Tygers, Edward set out into the nearby woods with his platoon to hunt them down. Edward allowed the Eighth Doctor to accompany him as the Doctor claimed to know about the Tygers. Edward was attacked by a Tyger and became infected with its virus which, if untreated, would cause Edward to become a Tyger.
The Doctor took Edward to the TARDIS, planning to take him to a space hospital. The TARDIS was dragged off course and taken to a spaceship in the orbit of a black hole in the 32nd century. On the ship Edward fell in love with a Tyger woman and decided to live on the ship. (PROSE: The Eye of the Tyger)
