Emmett Till was an African-American teenager who visited Mississippi in 1955 where he "had words" with a white woman. Given the high amount of racism in the Southern American states, Till was later murdered.
His death was reported in the news which Rosa Parks read in Alabama, who reported the boy's death to the Thirteenth Doctor, Graham, Ryan, and Yaz. (TV: Rosa)
