Dalazar was a continent on Skaro. It was home to Dalaza, the capital city of the humanoid Daleks, and thus the point of origin of their successors, the more familiar cyborg Daleks. It neighboured the continent of Darren and was separated by the Thals' continent of Davius by the Ocean of Ooze. (COMIC: Genesis of Evil)

Dalazar was the largest landmass on Skaro, covering one third of the planet's surface. It was bisected by the Drammankin Mountains, which split the continent in two. (PROSE: The Dalek Handbook)

History[]

Dalazar was the location of the Radiation Range, a mountain range where the humanoid Daleks discovered pure cobalt, which they later used to construct neutron bombs in an effort to destroy the Thals.

In 2003, (COMIC: The Dalek Tapes) or thousands of years prior to the 2060s, fires resulting from a meteorite shower spread to the buildings in Darren where the neutron bombs were stored, causing an explosion which devastated both Darren and Dalazar, possibly reaching as far as Davius as well.

DalazarAftermath

The aftermath of nuclear holocaust visited upon Dalazar. (COMIC: Genesis of Evil)

For two years, nothing stirred on Skaro as the radioactive dust from the bombs settled on the land and the oceans or drifted into the upper atmosphere. At this time, the War Lord Zolfian and the scientist Yarvelling, left the Dalek War Council chamber in Darren, which had protected them from the radiation, incorrectly believing the radioactivity to have sufficently subsided. They made their way to Dalazar to distance themselves from the centre of the blast's effects where they observed their capital to be in ruins. Following an unsuccessful search across Darren and Dalazar for other surviving Daleks, Yarvelling and Zolfian returned to the capital's remnants and built themselves a small shelter with their remaining strength, having both contracted radiation sickness as they wandered.

Soon afterwards, the shack was destroyed by one of Yarvelling's War Machines. It explained the radiation had caused the Daleks to mutate and that he had climbed into the machine designed by Yarvelling. The new Dalek ordered Yarvelling and Zolfian to create more machines before they perished. They did so, rebuilding the war factory and making a special casing for the Dalek they had encountered, who proclaimed himself Emperor, before they finally died. (COMIC: Genesis of Evil) The work continued without them and, over a period of two months, the new race of Daleks constructed their own Dalek City on the foundations of Dalaza. (COMIC: Power Play) It was from here that the Daleks would eventually forge a massive space-faring empire. (COMIC: The Amaryll Challenge et al.)
