Jingle Bells
JINGLE BELLS

The Daleks are exposed to a virus, which makes them sing "Jingle Bells". (COMIC: Emperor of the Daleks!)

"Jingle Bells", (TV: The Christmas Invasion [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who Christmas special (BBC One, 2005).) published under the title "One Horse Open Sleigh", was a popular Christmas song by James Lord Pierpont. It was originally published in 1857. (PROSE: The Time Traveller's Almanac [+]Steve Tribe, BBC Books (2008).)

The Roboform Christmas tree in Jackie Tyler's Powell Estate flat played the song before attacking Jackie, Rose, Mickey Smith and the Tenth Doctor. (TV: The Christmas Invasion [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who Christmas special (BBC One, 2005).)

The Sixth Doctor's plan to help Davros escape execution after his trial on Skaro involved a computer virus which overrode the command subroutines of the casings of all Daleks in the Dalek Court Room and forced them to joyously sing "Jingle Bells" instead. Only the Golden Emperor, whether thanks to his custom casing or to his force of will, was immune to the virus. (COMIC: Emperor of the Daleks! [+]Paul Cornell, DWM Comics (Marvel Comics UK, 1993).)

An instrumental version of "Jingle Bells" was played by an orchestra aboard Max Capricorn's spaceship replica of the RMS Titanic as an example of Earth Christmas music. The Tenth Doctor heard it after emerging from the TARDIS when it landed aboard the vessel. (TV: Voyage of the Damned [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who Christmas Special 2007 (BBC One, 2007).)

On a November afternoon in 2009 Mr Smith played "Jingle Bells" and Sarah Jane Smith was listening to it. The song was interrupted when Mr Smith detected abnormal local Internet activity. (AUDIO: Deadly Download [+]Error: Code 2 - no data stored in variables, cache or SMW.)

It was sung by a choir during Christmas at St Luke's University. (TV: The Pilot [+]Steven Moffat, Doctor Who series 10 (BBC One, 2017).)
