Jacob West was a student at Park Vale School. He found a Berserker pendant and began to make use of it in 2009.
In Mr Cunningham's detention, Jacob used the pendant's powers on other students, including Steve Wallace, who bullied him, and then on the teacher himself. Jacob went to the boy's toilet to try to reassert his control over the pendant. The pendant had started to affect him physically and cause glowing blue lines to appear on one arm, so he threw it away. Rani Chandra, who had wondered what had made Jacob act so strangely, entered the boys' toilet and found the pendant. Later, Jacob turned up at Rani's house to warn her about the pendant.
