Nancy Floyd was the girlfriend of the real Captain Jack Harkness in 1941. She was unaware that he was a homosexual who was involved with her to escape detection, with Jack unhappy about the deception even if he did care for her in a sense. (TV: Captain Jack Harkness)

An article on the series 1 version of the Torchwood website stated that Nancy was from Grangetown and was 23 at the time of Jack Harkness' death. She spoke to the Cardiff Examiner following the incident, commenting "He gave his life for us. We loved each other, and wanted to spend our future together, but he died instead, giving everyone a future. I'll never forget him".[1]
