Patel was a newly arrived prisoner at the Lunar Penal Colony in 2540.
Biography[]
Patel had been transported to the Lunar Penal Colony on the same shuttle as the Third Doctor. The crime for which he had been sentenced to life imprisonment was sabotage of a military base.
On the Moon, he was reacquainted with Professor Dale, a leader of the Peace Party. In his university days, Patel had served on the Youth Committee of the Peace Party, which was under Dale's oversight. (TV: Frontier in Space)
Behind the scenes[]
- The character was originally called Doughty in the script, and the novelisation also calls him by this name. Doughty is also described as being fair-haired rather than of Indian descent.
