Gary Russell (born 18 September 1963) was the editor of Doctor Who Magazine between 1991 and 1995. He was also the producer for Big Finish Productions until 2006, when he stepped down to begin script editing for the BBC Wales Doctor Who series. He has written many Doctor Who novels.

Russell has worked as an actor since childhood, including a teenage appearance in the James Bond film Octopussy. He also had a minor role in The Airzone Solution which stared Jon Pertwee, Colin Baker, Peter Davison, Sylvester McCoy, Nicola Bryant and Michael Wisher, a production notable for the many ex-Doctor Who actors it had. He directed the animated story The Infinite Quest. He wrote the jam-packed Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia. And in 2008 he became the head writer for a new American Doctor Who comic book series published by IDW. He contributed to the Davros Connections documentary.
