Private Gerhard was a Nazi soldier. During World War II he was staying at the Doras boarding house in Guernsey.
Told by the Seventh Doctor that something important would happen at a nearby beach, Bernice Summerfield flirted with him as a distraction so she could get there. Later, while the Doctor was investigating what happened, Gerhard saw Benny. To keep him from telling his superiors, she was forced to kill him. Standartenführer Joachim Wolff ordered that six villagers by killed as a punishment for Gerhard's death. (PROSE: Just War)
