History
On 26 June 1284, the Pied Piper came down from the mountains of Hamelin to feed on the inhabitants' fear by taking the children away from their parents. German soldiers from 1917 were abducted by aliens and unwittingly took part in the War Games, as well as British troops. During World War II, when it appeared that the United Kingdom would be invaded by Nazi Germany, four citadels were built under the surface of London. They were intended to allow the British government to continue operations if the worst happened. Following the war, Germany was partitioned into East Germany, which was controlled of the Soviet Union, and West Germany, which was initially administered by the rest of the Allies. The same was true of its capital city Berlin. During the Cold War, a barrier known as the Berlin Wall separated West Berlin from East Berlin and East Germany as a whole. Democratic uprisings in the Eastern Bloc countries resulted in the fall of the Berlin Wall on 9 November 1989 as well as the reunification of Germany and the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s. In 2009, the first Osterhagen Station was located sixty miles outside Nuremberg. During the Dalek invasion of Earth, Martha Jones used Project Indigo to teleport herself to a forest some sixty miles outside Nuremberg. Alternative timelines
In an alternative timeline accidentally created by the Seventh Doctor and Ace's arrival in Colditz Castle in October 1944, Nazi scientists used the laser technology contained in Ace's Walkman to refine uranium and create nuclear weapons. They subsequently bombed New York City and Moscow, forcing the surrender of the United States and the Soviet Union and winning Germany the war. This timeline was negated by an alternative version of the Eighth Doctor who, while posing as a German scientist named Johann Schmidt, fabricated a "flight log" for the TARDIS and manipulated Elizabeth Klein into travelling back in time to Colditz in October 1944 on the pretext of retrieving the Doctor so that he could teach her to pilot the TARDIS. Her lover Major Jonas Faber saw through Schmidt's trickery but was too late as Klein had already decided to disobey his orders and make the trip into the past. Unfortunately for Klein, her arrival in Colditz alerted the Seventh Doctor to the impending alteration of history and he and Ace were able to prevent it. (AUDIO: Colditz, AUDIO: Klein's Story)
In an alternative timeline in which Hitler did not lose the power of the Timewyrm, Germany had conquered the United Kingdom and the rest of Europe by 1941. After visiting the occupied London in May 1951 in this timeline, the Seventh Doctor and Ace prevented this from coming to pass. (PROSE: Timewyrm: Exodus)

In an alternate timeline in which the Eleventh Doctor never found the Dalek Ironsides, they became fully operational, with the Battle of Britain lasting only one more week before the German Luftwaffe suffered crippling casualties, forcing them to retreat and turn their forces against the Soviet Union. Their underestimation of the strategic possibilities of the Ironsides cost them dearly; whilst their efforts were diverted elsewhere, the Ironsides landed on the Normandy beaches, travelling along the seabed of the English Channel to avoid detection. The original two Ironsides were joined by the third Dalek from the ship.
The conflict was brief and soon the three Ironsides were marching across France, clearing a path for the liberation of the towns along their way by British soldiers. The enemy's guns were unable to penetrate the Ironside's defences and their speed and mobility meant that the Nazis were forced to retreat back to Germany to prepare a final defence, allowing the Russians to spread across Eastern Europe at the other end of the allied pincer movement. Up until this moment, the United States of America had remained strangely silent, unwilling to commit forces to war that seemed impossible to win, instead steadily stockpiling their weapons until a tactically advantageous moment arose. But when the Japanese attempted to come to Germany's aid with a pre-emptive attack on Pearl Harbor, the Ironsides stepped in, taking on the enemy bombers in a vicious dogfight lasting two days. The American Navy was saved and President Harry S Truman bestowed the Ironsides with a medal of honour, finally agreeing to aid the British in the war effort. Two months later, the allied forces marched on Berlin, and the Nazi stranglehold was broken. (DWAN: Doctor Who The Official Annual 2011)
