The Ghostmaker was the leader of the Night Travellers. He had the appearance of a ringleader of a circus called The Joshua Joy Travelling Show. He and the rest of the Night Travellers got trapped in film but when the Electro re-opened and a piece of film was played the Ghostmaker and Pearl were released. The duo went around Cardiff collecting the life force and 'final breath' of individuals and creating ghosts. He and Pearl retrieved the rest of the film from Jonathon Penn's workshop and released the rest of the Night Travellers, together they believed they owned the world. He ran when he saw Jack Harkness with a film camera and when Jack and Ianto Jones cornered him he threw the bottle containing the last breaths, most were released, all but one. Jack captured the Ghostmaker and exposed the untreated film, seemingly destroying him and the other Night Travellers, but feared that other rolls of old film may contain them and they might once again escape.
