Ian ("Chunky") Gilmore was an RAF officer with the Intrusion Countermeasures Group during the Shoreditch Incident of 1963. He was at the time Group Captain for a company of infantrymen from the RAF Regiment. (DW: Remembrance of the Daleks) He suggested the Brigadier as head of the British branch of UNIT (MA: The Scales of Injustice)
