God was an artificial intelligence which managed and watched over the Worldsphere and the People.

Biography[]

Early history[]

God created itself and was given its name as a joke whilst it did so, but the name stuck. Whilst most of it was located on Whynot, it had nodes throughout the Worldsphere and was charged with managing the Sphere and controlling the environment. It created the Wilderness Recreation Area when the Sphere was first built. (PROSE: The Also People)

The People's gods were cast out by God and imprisoned within Dellah, after which it bred out the psi gene to protect the People from them. (PROSE: Where Angels Fear) When God was young, the insane People were sent to the siCeralca ri!Qisla where it promised to look after them. It sent !X to Paradise when he was found to be capable of overcoming its safeguards and decreed that he should never be released. (PROSE: Down)

God was part of the group that negotiated the treaty between the People and the Time Lords, as was the Seventh Doctor. It was decided that it would be forbidden for it to have Gallifreyan in its linguistic files. (PROSE: The Also People) As a result of the treaty, God was unable to check on Dellah as often as it intended. (PROSE: Where Angels Fear)

The Doctor's visit[]

This section's awfully stubby.

Further info from The Also People needs to be added

The Seventh Doctor, Bernice Summerfield, Roz Forrester and Chris Cwej visited the Worldsphere. (PROSE: The Also People) God manipulated Benny or one of her travelling companions to ensure that she would end up on Dellah; (PROSE: Where Angels Fear) she would later accept a job at St Oscar's University. (PROSE: The Dying Days)

The Gods of Dellah[]

This section's awfully stubby.

Further info from Down, Ghost Devices, Walking to Babylon and Where Angels Fear needs to be added

Irving Braxiatel founded the Department of Theatrology at St Oscar's University and once said that being on Dellah made him "feel closer to God". (PROSE: Dragons' Wrath)

God became aware that Bernice Summerfield would play a role in the war against the Ferutu and sent J-Kibb, disguised as a porter, to St Oscar's to spy on her. (PROSE: Tears of the Oracle) Shortly after, it sent two human agents on behalf of the Tiny and Interesting Interest Group to recruit her as an agent, (PROSE: Oh No It Isn't!) although its real reason for wanting to recruit her was to distract her from what it was actually doing. (PROSE: Down) Benny accepted the offer. (PROSE: Oh No It Isn't!)

God manipulated several events including MEPHISTO and !X on Tyler's Folly. (PROSE: Down)

God had Benny and Gabriel, whom Benny instead decided to call "Clarence", go to Canopus IV to deal with a potential threat to the People. (PROSE: Ghost Devices)

A singularity bomb temporarily blinded God's sensors so that WiRgo!xu and !Ci!ci-tel could set up the Path in violation of the treaty with the Time Lords. God sent Benny to deal with it and asked for help from Cin-ta!x and the Temporal Interest Group, later learning that John Lafayette had genetically engineered psi powers which could be part of a conspiracy against the People. (PROSE: Walking to Babylon)

When the Ferutu were released, God summoned the People back to the Worldsphere without explanation and left a mention of Operation Ragnarok for the Apocalyptic Religions Interest Group to find, leading B-Aaron to investigate with Clarence. He manipulated Clarence into entering exile and saving Benny from Dellah. (PROSE: Where Angels Fear)

With !Cin-ta!x having difficulty developing time travel due to the People's lack of telepathy, God sent Kebara to the Oracle of the Lost on KS-159 and learnt that Benny and Braxiatel would be instrumental in the war. It decided to keep the two of them out of the conflict by having Kebara impersonate Jason Kane and distract them by leading them to KS-159, a scheme which was later uncovered by B-Aaron. God became aware of the Paraceletes parasite entering the J-Kibb and isolated it before sending it to crash on Dellah, cancelling out the religious fervour and drastically decreasing the chance of war breaking out. (PROSE: Tears of the Oracle)

Abilities[]

God was able to plant cultural filters in the neural nets of People, complete with a censorship function, to allow them to understand alien dialects. (PROSE: Down)

Appearance[]

God used multiple drones, but ensured that people only saw one at a time in order to maintain the illusion that they had its complete attention. (PROSE: Where Angels Fear) Its drones were small yellow spheroids with smiley faces. (PROSE: Tears of the Oracle)

Personality[]

God came across as a normal and "fairly pleasant" man with an expressive voice. (PROSE: The Also People) Although it was sometimes referred to with masculine pronouns, (PROSE: Oh No It Isn't!, etc.) it indicated that it did not have a gender. It was a member of the Anti-Machine Interest Group and did not identify as a computer. (PROSE: The Also People)
