Hampshire

Hampshire was an English county.

History[]

On 22 January 871, a battle was fought between King Æthelred I's army of Saxons and a group of Vikings in Hampshire, ending in Æthelred's defeat. Before the battle, a mysterious figure dressed as a monk attempted to sell Æthelred stun blasters. (PROSE: Time Traveller's Diary)

Charlotte Pollard and her siblings Margaret and Cecilia grew up in a manor house in Hampshire. (AUDIO: Storm Warning, The Chimes of Midnight)

In 1936, their mother Lady Louisa Pollard hoped to sell as they were running short of money but their father Lord Richard Pollard objected to the idea. (AUDIO: The Fall of the House of Pollard)

In 1929, the Fourth Doctor and Romana I visited Bassett-on-Hample in Hampshire. (AUDIO: The Auntie Matter)

Bob Dovie lived in Totton, Hampshire. On 23 November 1962, the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Doctors crashed the Sixth Doctor's TARDIS into both his garden shed and his chimney. Exactly one year later, the Master used Bob to set off a conceptual bomb that destroyed the Doctor's TARDIS. Thanks to the combined efforts of the first eight Doctors, the timeline was changed and the bomb was never planted. (AUDIO: The Light at the End)

In the 1970s, the Third Doctor visited the Hampshire village of Puddlesfield. (COMIC: The Celluloid Midas)

At least one account posited that Stockbridge was located in Hampshire. (COMIC: The Tides of Time)

In 2050, hurricanes caused by an Aeolian struck Hampshire, where hurricanes "hardly ever" happened. (TV: Aeolian)

Behind the scenes[]

Southampton, Portsmouth, Basingstoke, Romsey, and the Solent are also located in Hampshire.

Hampshire is cited as a possible location for the reoccurring DWM location of Stockbridge, according to at least one source. At any rate, Hampshire does, in fact, have a Stockbridge.
