The head of production works for the BBC on multiple productions within the same genre, sometimes working alongside a production executive. This is a new position within the BBC, starting in 2013. They are largely responsible for budgets and funding allocations.
As of December 2016[update], Gordon Ronald has been the only credited head of production for Doctor Who and Class, beginning in 2015. He also served as production executive for some episodes of Doctor Who during that same time period.
