Henric Hirsch directed most of the Doctor Who story The Reign of Terror, but was taken ill and collapsed during recording – giving way to another director, possibly John Gorrie, who had previously directed The Keys of Marinus, on the third episode, "A Change of Identity". This may be a myth, however, as John Gorrie doesn't remember working on The Reign of Terror.

Hirsch worked fairly steadily from about 1963 to 1973, during which his steadiest employment seems to have been on Crossroads. Much of his directorial work was on one-off movies-of-the-week and anthology programmes.
