Howard Lang (20th March 1911-12th December 1989) played Horg in "An Unearthly Child." A veteran of the Royal Navy, Mr. Lang's non-Doctor Who acting credits included a recurring role in the television series Sir Francis Drake (co-starring Roger Delgado and Peter Diamond), as well as parts in such varied television series as Dixon of Dock Green, Z Cars, The Six Wives of Henry VIII, and The Persuaders, and films such as The Trials of Oscar Wilde, Gorgo, A Night to Remember, and The Haunting. Among his last was the role of Winston Churchill in the American television mini-series, The Winds of War, in 1983.
Having appeared in the second, third and fourth episodes of the first Doctor Who serial in 1963, Lang coincidentally died six days after the original transmission of Survival Part Three, the last episode of the original TV series.
