I'm a Celebrity..

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, or I'm a Celebrity, was a reality television series from the 21st century.

Famous conspiracy theorist George Wilson joked that if he wanted to be made to look like a complete prat on national television, he'd go on I'm a Celebrity. He heard, though, that the pay was not too bad, and noted that a holiday in Australia was involved. (AUDIO: The Conspiracy)

In 2017, Shireen screamed the show's titular phrase upon being frightened inside the building at 11 Cardinal Road. (TV: Knock Knock)

Behind the scenes[]

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, commonly referred to as I'm a Celebrity or I'm a Celeb, began in 2002 on ITV, where it continues to run as a yearly series.

Ant & Dec serve as the show's hosts.

The show sees a group of celebrities camping out in the Australian jungle, and take part in "Bushtucker trials" that typically involve various nasty, jungle-related things, including insects, hence Shireen shouting the phrase "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here" when faced with the insect-like Dryads.

In the audio story Sync, Blon Slitheen referenced the show by saying "I'm a minor political celebrity, get me out of here".

Other connections[]

The series was accompanied by a companion series, I'm a Celebrity: Extra Camp (previously know as I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! NOW!), which has been hosted by various people. Kelly Osbourne, daughter of Sharon Osbourne, hosted the 2006 series. Former 2016 campmate Joel Dommett became one of the shows hosts beginning from the 2017 series. He was later joined by former 2018 campmate Emily Atack for the 2019 series, which was also the final series.

DWA 12 presented a Doctor Who-themed pastiche of the series, entitled I'm a Cyborg - Let Me Invade Here!, presented by "Ant McCyberman" and "Dalek Donnelly". In "Space Tucker Trials", human contestants were to ride a rampant Zarbi across the web of the Giant Spider then the Blue crystal, and were served Menoptera, Wirrn and Giant maggots in addition to witchetty grubs. Prizes were a choice between extermination or deletion.

The DWM 541 edition of The Daft Dimension also featured a pastiche of the series called Celebrity Junglebox (the title being partially based on that of Gogglebox), in which the Dalek who rose to fame for being the first to use their weapon on a human on screen attempted to revive their career by going on the show, but dropped out after angrily refusing to eat a kangaroo's bottom (a reference to the show's infamous eating trials).
