Janek was in charge of a team of workmen renovating the house Tranchard's Folly for Aleister Portillon, the thirteenth Earl of Whetstone in the 21st century.
His workmen found a well covered by a stone with strange writings on it. When the stone was lifted, a witch who emerged from the well attacked him and his workers. Later Mary Shelley and Aleister Portillon found his body in the house and assumed that he was killed by one of the traps set by the Varaxils for the witch. (AUDIO: The Witch from the Well)
