You may be looking for the real-world Jeremy Hoad.

Jeremy, sometimes known as J, (PROSE: The Magrs Conundrum!) hailed from Perth, Scotland. He was born in late 1966, and was soon adopted by Peter and Rita. He travelled with Iris Wildthyme for a while, before becoming a university warden. In the mid-1990s, Jeremy was introduced to his partner Paul Magrs by a friend who disappeared, and after moving to homes in Edinburgh, Norwich, and Manchester, and befriending Iris' companion Panda, he, Paul, and Panda finally settled down in a cosy new home in Levenshulme. In the mid-2000s, a stray cat "adopted" them. In his time living in Levenshulme, Jeremy was an active member of the community and was very work focused.

History[]

Early life[]

Jeremy was born in a hospital in 1967, in Perth. In the same hospital, not even a day later, he was adopted by Peter and Rita.

In his school years, Jeremy was once told to leave his classroom after his teacher didn't believe Jeremy's claims that chili con carne was a dish, which infuriated Jeremy. When Jeremy was ten, he saved up to purchase The Nutcracker Suite, which he kept for years to come. (PROSE: The Story of Fester Cat)

Travelling with Iris Wildthyme[]

Jeremy once travelled with Iris Wildthyme, who viewed him as her "glamourous young assistant". He helped Iris foil the 22nd century Dalek invasion, and he was with Iris in the Cyber-Tombs on Telos. (PROSE: The Scarlet Empress)

As a university warden[]

In the 1990s, while Jeremy was living in Edinburgh, he became a university warden at a local university. It was in 1995 his friend Duncan introduced him to Paul Magrs on Leith Walk. He and Paul hit it off, going to his flat to consummate their newfound relationship. Neither of them ever saw Duncan again.

Just before Christmas, 1996, Paul and Jeremy spent time together in his flat, when Paul injured his neck. To make things worse, Paul's father called to tell Paul that his grandmother had died, and then Paul's father then queer-bashed Paul.

By 1999, Jeremy and Paul lived in a home in Norwich, and by Christmas of that year, they had moved into a flat in Manchester, and Panda moved in with them. (PROSE: The Story of Fester Cat)

Life in Levenshulme[]

He, Paul, and Panda moved into their new home on Chestnut Avenue, in Levenshulme, sometime in 2005, and in early 2006, a gang of teenagers broke into their home through the sitting room window, and either Paul or Jeremy came downstairs and caught them red-handed. A couple of weeks later, a cat called Korky came inside their home, and he pooed inside the dining room. Although he and Paul were concerned for Korky, he just wanted to leave, so Paul let him out.
Korky's friend Fester Cat met him and Paul in Spring, and over the Summer, the three of them spent lots of time together, becoming a family.
One night in September, Paul told Jeremy that earlier that day Fester's previous owner had found Fester, but instead of taking Fester, she told Paul that she was thankful Fester had found a home.

A short while later, Jeremy took Fester to a vet for a checkup, and there Fester was microchipped. Soon, Christmas is on the horizon, and Jeremy's parents, Peter and Rita come to Levenshulme to visit him and Paul. When Paul's family came to visit them on Christmas, Jeremy talked to Paul's stepfather Brian.

In the early days of the following year, Jeremy and Paul took Fester to the vets due to a gum infection, and shortly afterwards, he, Paul, and Panda went on holiday to Manhattan, in New York City.

On a Thursday in late March, 2013, Jeremy celebrated his 46th Birthday, and a couple of days later, Fester had a stroke. A day after that, Jeremy printed a map off Google Earth, and he drove Fester and Paul to a special vet in Cheadle Hulme. The journey there was hectic, as the map turned out to be a bit of a hinderance, but they arrived at the vet eventually. At the vet, after a female vet talked to Jeremy and Paul about the welfare of Fester, it was decided that Fester should be euthanised. The injection doesn't take long, and Fester passes peacefully. Over the next few days, Jeremy and Paul simply cry. (PROSE: The Story of Fester Cat)

Undated events[]

At one point, Jeremy would re-unite with Iris, and he and Paul would then travel with Iris and Panda. During their adventures, Jeremy and Panda became "thick as thieves".

In one of these adventures, Iris was contacted by her "Brenda Soobie" incarnation, and asked to deal with some Ninnies so Brenda could have a party. Jeremy and Panda attended Brenda's party while Paul and Iris dealt with the Ninnies. (PROSE: Party Fears Two)

Personality[]

Jeremy had a habit of calling supermarkets "El Shoppo". He was often grumpy, which caused Paul to become stressed and irrited. When it was pointed out that Panda was a stuffed toy, both Jeremy and Panda were scandalised. (PROSE: The Story of Fester Cat)

Appearance[]

In the 1990s, Jeremy was tall, broad and blond, with a little quiff at the top of his slightly pointed head. Both Jeremy and Paul wore glasses and they were also of similar height. In the 2000s, Jeremy had a beard, and he often smoked cigarettes. (PROSE: The Story of Fester Cat)

Behind the scenes[]

  • An in-universe version of the BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures novel The Blue Angel exists in the "Magrsverse", but there has been no indication by any source that is was written by the in-universe Jeremy Hoad or Paul Magrs.
