Trainee Pilot Jonn Hespell was a slight, red-haired man who joined the expedition on the SS Humphrey Bogart fresh from his five-year training in the Space Naval Academy. During his 18 month trip to find the planet Laylora, he didn't get along well with Jae Collins, but did get along with Kendle and fellow Academy graduate Ania Baker. He was among the group who went hunting the Witiku, but got separated from the rest of the group, lost with Ania, and rescued by the villagers who came to the Tenth Doctor's aid.
