The Lake District, also known as the Lakes, (AUDIO: Call to Arms) was a region in the North of England, (AUDIO: The Zygon Who Fell to Earth) famous, as the name suggested, for its lakes.

Sometime around the 12th century, a Zygon spaceship crash landed in Kendal, in the Lake District. The Zygons onboard, including Haygoth, went into hibernation for centuries. (AUDIO: The Zygon Who Fell to Earth)

In 1896, Ian Lunn was born in the Lake District.

The Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones visited the region in September 1909, hoping to meet King Edward VII who was there on a hunt for the alleged "Beast of Westmoreland."
