Lucy Cartwright was a little girl who was walking home from a party with a red balloon when one of the animated scarecrows from Mr Clark's field kidnapped her and took her to the Family of Blood's invisible spaceship. Daughter of Mine took over her body, killing her.
It is believed that Lucy's parents realised Daughter of Mine was not her and were swiftly killed. (TV: Human Nature/The Family of Blood)

- In the Series Three DVD box set, there is a deleted scene. In it, when the scarecrow attacks Lucy, she at first says hello to it and tells it to stay where it is; believing it to be harmless. But she then realises that it is dangerous when it doesn't stop following her, before it abducts her.
