A male camper was camping in Cornwall with his friend Pat in 1978.

Biography[]

The male camper witnessed Pat being killed by the Ogri and, shortly after, or at the same time, they killed him as well. (TV: The Stones of Blood)

According to one source, the couple were not very experienced campers (this was their first night sleeping in a tent), as well as being newly married and too hard-up to afford a proper holiday. (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Stones of Blood)

Behind the scenes[]

  • The male camper is unnamed both on-screen and in Terrance Dicks's novelisation, but is referred to as "Mark" in the script.
  • The male camper's death is unclear on-screen, but he may have been killed at the same time as Pat: he screams as loudly as her when he tries to pull her away from the Ogri — implying that the Ogri's life-sucking energy passed through Pat and killed him too. However, according to the novelisation: "Terrified, the man turned to flee, but the second glowing monolith bore down on him, smashing him to the ground." (quote, page 88)
  • The male camper is named Zac Hardcastle in David Fisher's audiobook and the 2022 novelisation. This was not derived from any information given in the televised version or Terrance Dicks's original 1980 novelisation.
