Mary Farrel was the wife of John Farrel and the mother of Rex Farrel.
Biography[]
In the 1970s, Mrs. Farrel was interviewed by the Third Doctor and Jo Grant after her husband was killed by a Nestene-controlled plastic troll doll, who both learned that the Master had taken control of Farrel Plastics.
During the Doctor and Jo's visit, Mrs. Farrel said she had originally put the doll on top of the living room radiator — but later mysteriously found it underneath the window curtain, as if it was trying to get out. (TV: Terror of the Autons)
Behind the scenes[]
- Mary Farrel's first name is not used in the on-screen dialogue of Terror of the Autons, and Barbara Leake is credited as "Mrs. Farrell [sic]" on the closing titles of episodes two and three; and correctly as "Mrs. Farrel" in Radio Times. It is only mentioned in Terrance Dicks's novelisation, Doctor Who and the Terror of the Autons.
