Maurice Caven was the leader of a band of space pirates which robbed argonite shipments. He kidnapped Dom Issigri and blackmailed his daughter, Madeleine Issigri, into allowing him to set up a base on Ta. When his crimes were exposed, Caven threatened to blow up Ta, but was stopped by the Doctor, and he and his men were killed when General Hermack had their ship destroyed. (DW: The Space Pirates)
