Meson cannons were ship-mounted Sontaran weapons.
They were found on most Sontaran ships-of-the-line as a primary weapon. Ships that mounted meson cannons included Linx class cruisers and Valt class destroyers.
Described as an open-ended particle accelerator using mesons, the cannons were available from at least 2370. (PROSE: Lords of the Storm)
